RECIPE: HEHP Tropical Smoothie for Aged Care Residents

A tropical, smooth and creamy delight packed with extra energy and protein in every delicious sip. This HEHP Smoothie is tasty, carries Aged Care residents to an island holiday and delivers a source of fibre as well. It’s mangonificent on a warm summer’s day!


What is HEHP?

Essentially a HEHP or a High Energy High Protein Diet includes food and beverage items that are high in energy and protein! High energy high protein diets in common with the elderly as our nutrition requirements and demands for certain nutrients change as we get older. Find out more HEHP Diets here.


HEHP Tropical Smoothie recipe for Aged Care Residents

RECIPE: HEHP Tropical Smoothie

Serves 13 ~ 200ml servings / makes 2.6L

Ingredients

  • 1L Full-Cream Milk

  • 2 cups (250g) Full-Cream Milk Powder

  • 2 ½ cups (600g) Greek Yoghurt

  • 5 Tbsp (100g) Honey

  • 3 cups (500g) diced mango (frozen)

  • 1 banana

Method

  1. Add all ingredients into a blender or jug.

  2. Using a blender, electric mixer or stick blender, blend until smooth and lump free (approx. 1 min).

  3. Divide equally between 13 glasses and serve.

Please store in the refrigerator until required.


NOTE The milk powder will dissolve into the milk if blended appropriately. If you use fresh fruit, add ice. If providing to any residents on texture modified diets, ensure there are no lumps, bits, clumps and strain to catch the fibres from the mango. Ensure completely smooth.
