About the event
Dysphagia can occur at any stage of life and affects each person differently. In aged care, recognising and managing swallowing difficulties is essential to keeping residents safe, nourished, and enjoying their meals.
This free education session covers the causes, signs, and consequences of dysphagia, including silent aspiration, common foods to avoid at different IDDSI levels, and practical strategies to support residents on texture-modified diets. You’ll also learn tips to help minimise weight loss and promote adequate nutrition, while keeping mealtimes enjoyable.
While this free session offers practical guidance for caring for residents on texture-modified diets, it does not replace our full IDDSI training. Staff should have some prior knowledge of IDDSI before attending. If you haven’t completed training recently, we encourage you to book a full IDDSI session to get the most from this education session.
Join OSCAR Care Group Dietitian, Andrea Popovic, for this practical, evidence-based session designed for aged care staff working directly with residents. We look forward to seeing you then!
